2nd Shift Metal Finisher

Job Description

As a 2nd shift Metal Finisher, you will play a critical role in ensuring the high standards and quality craftsmanship of brass fixtures through various forms of metal finishing. Your tasks will include sandblasting, metal polishing, electro-stripping, and other finishing processes.

Responsibilities

• Sandblasting with high-pressure air equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces.
• Manually directing the nozzle over large parts or manipulating small parts under the nozzle in a glove-fitted cabinet.
• Using polishing lathe machines to correct defects, smooth surfaces, and prepare materials.
• Setting up and operating polishing equipment, coating buffing wheels with compound sticks, and maintaining buffing materials and equipment.
• Processing living finishes using burnishing machines, which involves exposure to nut shells.
• Electro-stripping by racking parts and dipping them in electrically charged chemical baths, rinsing, and drying.
• Peeling or unwrapping parts in preparation for further finishing and verifying the type and quantity of parts against production orders.
• Returning finished parts to inventory, scanning production tickets into the ERP system, and advancing parts to the next stage of production.

Essential Skills

• Experience with production, polishing, buffing, and finishing processes.
• Ability to communicate discrepancies to team leaders and solve problems.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, dependability, and persistence.
• Ability to visually examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Ability to follow instructions and comply with safety regulations, including using personal protective equipment.
• Capability to work overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

You will be working in a family-owned company with 300 employees across three different buildings. The company offers over 30 finishes to its customers, focusing on artisan-made products rather than mass production. The work environment includes the use of advanced finishing technologies and equipment, and adherence to high standards of quality.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
