Teaching responsibilities include assisting in one 9 th -12 th grade band class, an advanced 7 th /8 th grade ensemble, a concert 6 th /7 th grade ensemble, Foundations level band class, and co-teaching a 6 th grade general music class. Other responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of four annual concerts, participating and preparing students for GMEA and GISA sponsored events, providing music for various HIES community events, organizing field trips as part of the curriculum, and supporting other performing arts programs.
Candidates preferably have a specialty in brass or percussion instruments and should exhibit superb communication skills, a desire to assist in building a comprehensive band department across all divisions, an eagerness to inspire young people musically, and be committed to working as part of a dynamic arts team.
Qualifications include teaching experience in the middle and/or high school band classroom. A master’s degree and Georgia teaching certificate are preferred, but not required.
