The Band Manager plays a vital role in supporting the success of the band by ensuring that rehearsals, performances, and internal communications run smoothly and efficiently. This position serves as a key liaison between the Music Director, band members, and support staff to coordinate logistics, manage schedules, and ensure timely completion of concert-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Music Director to stay updated on rehearsal and performance schedules.

  • Oversee concert logistics , using the established spreadsheet to track start and end dates for each performance series.

  • Assign tasks and ensure that assignees clearly understand their responsibilities and deadlines.

  • Follow up with individuals responsible for tasks to confirm progress and adherence to timelines.

  • Partner with the Music Director and Performance Planning Committee to develop concert and ensemble programming.

  • Work with designated staff to ensure donor communications and mailings are completed according to schedule.

  • Coordinate with Section Leaders to track and report rehearsal attendance to the Music Director.

  • Ensure band members are informed of their roles in performance set-up and take-down , as well as call times for concerts.

  • Supervise the setup and teardown of equipment and percussion instruments to meet performance timelines.

  • Share relevant updates with the band as needed, based on communications from the Music Director.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in the music industry is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent organizational and management skills .

  • Strong ability to multitask , prioritize, and meet deadlines.

  • Highly detail-oriented with effective communication skills.

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
