Job Description

A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is needed to support K-12 students in an educational setting in Portales, NM. This contract position spans the entire school year and involves collaboration with licensed Occupational Therapists to deliver effective therapy services that enhance students educational and developmental progress.

Key Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
  • Valid Arizona state license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Minimum of one year recent experience, preferably in pediatric or school environments
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check
  • Commitment to ongoing continuing education and professional development as required

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist licensed Occupational Therapists in delivering occupational therapy interventions aligned with student goals
  • Implement therapeutic activities to support students educational and developmental milestones
  • Monitor, document, and report on students progress, collaborating to update treatment plans as needed
  • Partner with teachers, administrators, and families to address student needs effectively
  • Maintain detailed and compliant records according to state and district guidelines
  • Engage in professional development to stay informed of best practices in occupational therapy and education
