Overview Under the general supervision of the Patron Services Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing, strengthening, and maintaining meaningful relationships between the library and the community it serves. Actively engages and interacts with library patrons and partners to foster a strong connection between the library and the community. Identifies and coordinates community outreach opportunities for the library. Works with other departments to plan and execute partner programs. Represents the library at community festivals, fairs, school events, meetings for local business organizations, charity groups, and other community functions. Manages the Homebound Delivery program, including organizing deliveries to homebound individuals and senior living facilities. Acts as point of contact for library volunteers. Together with the Executive Director, acts as point of contact for the Friends of the Library. Evaluates and reports on the impact of outreach efforts. Engages in professional development activities to stay current on trends in library outreach. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Able to work independently and determine/adjust work priorities as needed. Able to complete tasks in a timely, orderly manner to meet deadlines and commitments. Excellent written/oral communication skills and the ability to work well with others. Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; able to stay calm in times of crisis. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Able to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed. Able to travel between district branches and to and from work-related events within the state of Illinois. Physical Requirements Standard office environment. Access to reliable transportation for off-site events and activities within the state of Illinois. Education/Experience Minimum two years’ community outreach/partnerships experience. Minimum three years’ customer service experience preferable in a library, government, or non-profit setting. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public relations, or other related field preferred. Direct experience with the Winnetka-Northfield community preferred. JobClassification: Non-exempt. Pay: $25.74-$32.17 per hour, depending on experience.
