Position Overview

The Communications Director oversees the OCE communications team while implementing strategic plans to keep constituents, stakeholders, and partners informed about services and projects; enhancing the organization's brand; and highlighting achievements. The ideal candidate must have the capacity and interest to be an effective mentor and leader for staff. Strong collaboration and team-building skills are necessary for success; excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are essential.

Job Duties

• Direct and supervise the activity of the communication organization.
• Serve as the Media Spokesperson.
• Responsible for disaster/recovery communications.
• Manage social media accounts for the department.
• Coordinate events with clients, public outreach, and meetings.
• Handle internal and external communications.
• Run monthly analytic reports, web content, and content management of publications.
• Promote project controls, tracking, and reporting using appropriate software/system, including analyzing performance metrics.
• Oversee the entire portfolio of projects assigned to the division.
• Conduct supervisory duties including training, performance management, staffing, and policy implementation.
• Manage workflow and project prioritization, taking corrective actions when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or related field.

Experience

• Seven (7) years experience in public relations/communications.
• Three (3) years supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in editing, proofreading, analytics, web content management.
• Ability to develop written documents, oral presentations, and reports.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders.
