POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary: Grants and Development Manager (GDM)
The Grants and Development Manager (GDM) plays a key role in securing and managing grant funding, financial resources, and fundraising initiatives to advance the mission of the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake (UICSL). This position focuses on grant writing, financial tracking, timely submission of grant documentation, and donor engagement — ensuring UICSL maintains sustainable funding to support its programs and services.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the GDM is responsible for developing and executing grant applications, maintaining accurate financial records in coordination with the Staff Accountant, and collaborating across departments to ensure compliance and alignment with programmatic goals. The GDM also leads fundraising efforts and oversees the Grants Coordinator, ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of UICSL’s grants and development processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work and collaborate with staff members to ensure accurate, timely, efficient, and transparent processes for all grant, donor, and partnership life cycles at UICSL—from proposal to close—as follows:

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Batchelor's degree in accounting finance, business administration, or related field
Experience: 2-4 years of grant management experience in a tribal, healthcare or nonprofit organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience: 5-7 years in a grant management role
Certification/Licensure: N/A
Other:
a) Proficient in federal contracting & grant management/compliance functions
b) Proficient in non-profit accounting and reporting
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS (KCC)
Knowledge of grant/contract management & administration across project life cycles
Knowledge of regulations governing federal grant/contract compliance (OMB circulars) and reporting (FFR)
Knowledge of federal acquisition guidelines, non-profit fund accounting and grant audit processes
Knowledge of federal acquisition and procurement guidelines,
Evidence of advanced competency with office software (particularly Microsoft Excel)
Evidence of competent verbal and written communication skills appropriate to the position
Evidence of advanced competency with organization, time management and prioritization behaviors
Evidence of competency with self-management and guiding teams in completing tasks on a deadline
Evidence of competency with fund account & inventory software
Evidence of competency in problem-solving and critical thinking
Demonstrates a positive attitude of service and a respect for American Indian/Alaska Native cultures
