Job Duties and Qualifications

• Under general supervision, applies basic design logic to perform engineering changes and to construct assembly drawings for complex equipment
• Works with given specifications, requirements, or instructions
• Expert in proper part modeling techniques
• Creates product structures in PDM systems
• Prepares complex design layouts and/or schematics based on rough sketches or instructions from engineering personnel
• Responsible for drafting quality in design documentation
• Checks drawings of other design personnel for completeness and accuracy as required. Aware of tolerance requirements for proper function of equipment
• Performs tolerance studies on tools for proper function of equipment
• Utilizes and exchanges expertise of the materials and methods
• Applies expertise of manufacturing, production processes, operations, and maintenance practices to designs. Incorporates reliability, HSE and Quality analysis techniques during the design process
• Job tasks impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations

Drafting and Design Software Skills: 

• SolidWorks
• AutoCAD
• CWI 
• SolidWorks PDM

Education Requirement:

• Skills typically acquired through the completion of an associate's degree in drafting or similar discipline and 5 years of related experience or through 7 years of related drafting experience
• Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level a variety of job opportunities might be available from Mechanical Designer, Senior Mechanical Designer up to the Principal Mechanical Designer
