Job Description

The Nursing Technician role is a fast-paced role requiring strong communication and teamwork skills, regardless of the department you are working in. This is a direct patient care role, and duties will include Taking Vitals, Checking Blood Sugar, Wound Care, Bed bathing, Toileting, Ambulating, Catheterization, and acting as safety attendant for patients as needed. Additionally, you could be involved in Postmortem care or floated to another unit to cover a shift. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner. The unit is a 13-bed Med Surg unit with overflow into ICU, Stroke Certified, emphasizing accountability, honesty, compassion, courage, teamwork, collaboration, and safe personal care. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 for days, up to 1:6 on nights. The hospital brings the resources of Corewell Health to the local community with a caring, compassionate approach. The role includes a rotating 3 week schedule, 36 weekly hours, day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., working every third weekend.
