Job Description

Entity: Production & Operations Job Family Group: Subsurface Group Job Description: We are seeking a technically strong and collaborative Reservoir Geomechanics Specialist to join our PPFG and Geomechanics team supporting deepwater operations in the Gulf of America. As our fields mature, complex geomechanical and subsurface challenges continue to evolve. This role is key to addressing these challenges with integrated, cross-disciplinary solutions for field performance and design of water injectors - injectivity, fluid conformance and containment. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in geomechanics, experience in reservoir and production management, and a demonstrated ability to bring geological context to problem solving. You will lead and support high-impact projects involving enhanced injection management solutions in deep water fields to sustain high injection rates, achieve fluid conformance and maintain fluid containment, while engaging closely with drilling, reservoir, completions, and base management teams to ensure comprehensive and effective solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Provide advanced geomechanical support for deepwater operations with a strong grounding in geological context, particularly for:

  • Injection success and integrity assurance
  • Out-of-zone injection risk mitigation
  • Fracture propagation modeling and containment
  • Integrating variety of injection surveillance techniques with geomechanical analysis and geological context of the field
  • Integrate geomechanics with production geology to interpret subsurface conditions and optimize injection and drilling strategies.
  • Lead multidisciplinary projects, coordinating across functions including drilling, completions, reservoir, and production teams to align around shared outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborator relationships, providing clear, actionable recommendations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Help with surveillance design and risk assessments for the fields to support injection success.
  • Support Value of Information discussions for different surveillance approaches/ techniques.
  • Integrate with asset geophysicist on 4D seismic, with petroleum engineers on PTA/ surveillance and with completions engineers on frac design and injectivity tests.
  • Analyze field and offset data to model pore pressure, fracture gradients, and stress regimes using industry-standard software.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of standard processes and workflows for geomechanics and injector design.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Geomechanics, Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably with an operator in offshore or deepwater environments.
  • Demonstrated experience applying geomechanics in conjunction with production geology for field development or well planning.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects involving multiple collaborators and teams.
  • Strong experience with geomechanical/ geological modeling tools (e.g., Petrel Geomechanics, FLAC3D, Abaqus, or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of petroleum engineering fundamentals, particularly as they relate to injection, reservoir depletion, and well integrity. Experience with fracture modeling or PTA is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Operational experience reservoir management in deepwater assets and mature turbidite reservoirs.
  • Exposure to geomechanics support for injection operations and reservoir geomechanics.
  • Experience of geomechanical core testing and integrating core data with geomechanical analysis
  • Familiarity with digital workflows and surveillance tools supporting injection monitoring.
