Basic Job Functions:The Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role as an active member of the division safety team. They are responsible for taking the initiative to implement actions and foster a strong safety culture within the division. This role involves leading, influencing, coaching, and teaching division teammates.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Managing administrative tasks such as OSHA-required training and reporting, maintaining training record systems, and conducting required safety inspections.
• Overseeing and managing the division's incident management systems.
• Providing orientation training for new teammates and independent contractors.
• Covering the responsibilities of the EHS department as needed.
• Leading/executing on new initiatives to strengthen Safety and Culture.
• Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to a fast-paced work environment.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Additional Expectations:
• This is not a remote role and is expected to work on-site.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed and to be on-call for emergency situations.
• Must be willing to travel 20% of time.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Compensation Data:This is a salaried position with compensation ranging from $81,900 to $94,900 annually and is eligible for a yearly ROA bonus.
Minimum Qualifications:• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of SAP
• Formal education in safety or related field of study
• Experience with formal Safety and/or Environmental programs
