Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant

Location: Dover, DE 19901

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements, managing the annual budget for the development corporation, and overseeing billing records. This role includes supervising the Related Corporation Specialist and conducting annual evaluations. Additionally, the position involves preparing tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory tax changes, and maintaining adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

1. Review and file all tax returns (990s & 1120s) in collaboration with the Controller/CFO before deadlines.
2. Record journal entries, review financial reports for accuracy, and document findings.
3. Prepare monthly financial statements for affiliated entities.
4. Develop budgets for related corporations, ensuring completion at least two months before the fiscal year-end and finalization before the annual Board meeting.
5. Ensure all benefit returns (5500s) are accurately prepared and submitted on time according to audit schedules.
6. Supervise the Related Corporations Specialist, conduct annual evaluations, and ensure tasks related to affiliated entities are completed accurately and timely.
7. Research and document GAAP-compliant procedures for the organization as needed within set deadlines.
8. Reconcile assigned accounts monthly and make necessary journal adjustments.
9. Stay up to date with tax regulations, FASB guidelines, AICPA Form 990 requirements, and other nonprofit accounting policies.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience in a healthcare setting, including tax return preparation and financial statement reporting

Preferred:

• Master's degree in a related field
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) credential
• Five (5) years of general accounting experience
• Experience with hospital accounting and tax preparation for both for-profit and nonprofit entities
