Join a Team Where You Can Thrive, Grow, and Make a Difference

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is building something special—a workplace where every team member is valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. With a shared commitment to exceptional medical care, client service, and a culture of collaboration, PVESC is more than just a hospital—it’s a community.

About Us:

PVESC is a thriving 26-doctor emergency and specialty practice offering a wide range of services, including emergency & critical care, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, neurology, anesthesiology, and cardiology. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where every team member can learn, grow, and contribute to our collective success.

We are also passionate about giving back to the community through events like Pet Rock in the Park , an annual outdoor celebration of pets and people, featuring live music and more.

About the Role:

We are seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide essential support to our doctors, staff, and clients by managing prescriptions and maintaining our pharmacy operations. If you’re organized, compassionate, and eager to make a meaningful impact, this position is for you.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive, team-driven workplace where your voice matters.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits to support your financial, physical, and emotional well-being.
  • Opportunities for learning and growth, with exposure to a wide range of specialties.
  • A chance to work alongside compassionate, high-performing colleagues in a collaborative environment.

Schedule:

Four 10-hour shifts per week, including one weekend day.

Requirements

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and dispense in-hospital and take-home prescriptions with precision and care.
  • Assist clients with medication questions or connect them with staff who can provide answers.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and removing expired products.
  • Oversee PVESC’s online pharmacy, including training staff, processing orders, and managing client communications.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, especially for controlled substances and medication double-checks.
  • Maintain accurate computer records for prescriptions, refills, and medication updates.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, accessible, and well-stocked pharmacy area.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the management team to share ideas and identify areas for improvement.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Experience: At least 1 year in a veterinary or human pharmacy setting, with familiarity with veterinary terminology, medications, and procedures.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with software programs like MS Excel and veterinary practice management systems (e.g., ezyVet).
  • Attributes: Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to providing outstanding service to clients and team members alike.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Why Join Us?

At PVESC, we believe in creating meaningful connections—not just with our clients and their pets, but also with each other. You’ll build lasting friendships, make a difference every day, and be part of something truly special. If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear from you!
