Overview

The Event Sales Manager develops strategies and initiates potential business accounts, including national, corporate, association, sports tournaments, and other group functions, to generate hotel business.

Responsibilities

  • Understand basic sales techniques and customer service principles.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and maintain positive guest relations.
  • Solicit account leads and represent the hotel to prospective clients.
  • Be familiar with hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to inquiries.
  • Manage group room blocks, prepare invoices, and review bills for accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute banquet event orders and negotiate contracts.
  • Lead site inspections, attend trade shows, and make sales calls.
  • Forecast group pick-up and participate in trade organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of college; degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • 2-4 years of experience in sales or event services preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Outgoing, self-motivated, and personable.
  • Experience in hospitality sales, conference planning, or conventions desirable.
